Tulsa police found a gunshot victim inside of a Camaro during traffic stop near 61st Street and Peoria Avenue early Wednesday.

Officers responded to the St. Thomas Square Apartments, 1050 E. 61st St., to investigate a report of shots fired around 12:30 a.m., said Cpl. Ken Simpson.

Police saw a black, T-top Chevrolet Camaro leave the area with a male passenger inside holding something against his head, Simpson said.

Patrol officers stopped the car and called medics after discovering a man, later identified as Dominique Saunders, with a gunshot wound inside the car.

Medics treated and transported a 29-year-old man from the scene in serious condition, said EMSA spokeswoman Kelli Bruer.

Saunders was reportedly uncooperative with police and refused to give officers any information about the shooting, Simpson said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS (2677).
