OKLAHOMA CITY - A Shawnee man is accused of shooting a 16-year-old several times at close range and then firing at the boy's sister as she tried to protect her two children, court documents show.
Charles Leonard Bennett III, 26, and Melissa Carole Patterson, 25, of Shawnee, were charged Wednesday in Oklahoma County District Court with one count each of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and shooting with intent to kill.
Bennett has been in the Oklahoma County jail since Nov. 16; police have requested a warrant for Patterson's arrest.
Patterson is accused of telling Bennett to retrieve her gun and shoot the boy and his sister, who was fighting with Patterson, according to a probable cause affidavit.
