Irish Tenors to perform at The Joint on Thursday

The Irish Tenors return to The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa on Thursday, nearly a year from its venue debut.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets start at $45, available at tulsaworld.com/hardrockcasino, the venue box office or by calling 918-384-ROCK. All patrons must be at least 21 years old. The Joint is inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, 777 W. Cherokee St., Catoosa.
Many agree that the Irish Tenors are the Emerald Isle's version of Italy's Three Tenors. Finbar Wright, Anthony Kearns and Ronan Tynan have taken the model of Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras and Plácido Domingo and transformed it into one of America's favorite touring groups.
The Irish Tenors have recorded five PBS specials and seven albums since 2000, including 2001's "Ellis Island," which topped Billboard's Heatseeker list and was listed as Billboard's "Top 10 Best" for that year.
The Irish Tenors indeed will showcase their country's lyrical history.
Kearns said more than half the program will be traditional Irish fare, and mixed in will be what Kearns fondly refers to as "holiday potboilers," including "Feliz Navidad," "O Holy Night" and others.
Irish history has been preserved through its music, Kearns said.
"Before they could really read or write, they sang. They passed along stories for generations by singing. I think that's why so many people are touched by Irish music. It's real life - suffering, joy, pain, success, love for the land, nostalgia."
That definitely includes the fan-favorite tune that's now a signature part of their set, "Danny Boy."
