The Admiral Twin Drive-In winds up its 2012 season this weekend.

The iconic drive-in re-opened this summer with new metal screens after a fire burned its double-sided, wood screen tower in September 2010.

"It was definitely a banner year," said co-owner Blake Smith.

Despite missing May and half of June - which Smith said are an important six weeks for theaters - this season was one of the drive-in's most successful during the last 12-year period.

"We've had a lot of momentum from the community rallying around us," Smith said. After the fire, fans of the "Save the Admiral Twin" effort raised more than $30,000 to help rebuild the theater.

Smith said the support raised the profile of the drive-in and made this a big year.

Showing this weekend are the double features "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" and "Wreck-it Ralph," at 6:55 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, respectively; and "Rise of the Guardians" and "Hotel Transylvania," at 7:05 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

This weekend's prices are $10 per car.

Smith said the drive-in's tentative plan is to open its 2013 season in March, depending on the weather.
