The Sooners return home from a 3-0 showing at the Rainbow Wahine Showdown. They opened by beating Arkansas 73-70 the day after Thanksgiving, as center Nicole Griffin scored 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Freshman guard Maddie Manning made her first start and responded with 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Sooners didn't shoot it well from the outside against Arkansas, but that changed the next day against Oregon. OU made 17 3s in a school-record 38 attempts in a 100-61 rout. Aaryn Ellenberg went 7-of-12 beyond the arc and closed with a season-high 27 points.
OU finished the weekend with a 74-49 victory over host Hawaii on Sunday. Point guard Morgan Hook led the way with 16 points, while Ellenberg and Manning pitched in 12 each.
Coach Sherri Coale referred to the experience as "building blocks ... We made some big strides forward."
They should make a few more Thursday night against Northwestern State. The Lady Demons are 4-2, but their four wins have come at the expense of New Orleans, Alcorn State, Texas-Pan American and Wiley College.
