Letter to the Editor: Upset with governor

I am very upset with our governor. I have several family members who cannot qualify for Medicaid or SoonerCare because they are adults out of work and don't have a job or cannot find one, mainly because they have a felony on their record. And because they don't have children still at home, are not disabled, or are not elderly.
Oklahoma wants ex-inmates or people to change their lives and not go back to a life of crime, but they don't help them train for a job before they get out. I have two daughters who are single who are uninsured because they cannot afford it. One of them is waiting on a decision on her appeal for disability and one cannot find work. And my husband has been incarcerated since 1997, hopefully to be released in 2016 if the parole board keeps denying him for parole. He is currently in the Keys to Life program at William S. Keys in Fort Supply.
I don't think Fallin cares about the poor or disadvantaged here in Oklahoma. We need the Medicaid expansion and the insurance exchange. But I am so happy that the people of Oklahoma voted to remove the governor from the parole process for nonviolent offenders, even though it won't help my husband because his is a violent offense.
