'Shop with a Cop' matches officers, children in need

BIXBY -- Veteran Bixby police officer Sgt. Blake Annis admits he doesn't know much about buying makeup.
But for 18-year-old Marci Russell, he was willing to patiently browse through the various brands until she found the one that suited her.
It was all part of the job Sunday for law enforcement officials representing the Bixby Police Department and the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, who help treat 40 area underprivileged children to a Christmas shopping spree at Walmart during the annual "Shop with a Cop" event.
"It is nice to be able to see the excitement on the kids faces while they shop," Annis said.
