OU's Saunders, Johnson arrested

NORMAN – Oklahoma wide receiver Jalen Saunders and defensive back Cortez Johnson were arrested on complaints of marijuana possession early Sunday morning, a Cleveland County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman confirmed to the Tulsa World.
According to public information officer Meghan McCormick, Johnson was driving Saunders' vehicle at East Lindsey and Oakhurst Avenue in Norman around 2 a.m. Sunday, when a sheriff's deputy pulled them over after noticing the driver's side rear turn signal wasn't working.
It was then the deputy allegedly discovered the presence of marijuana and made the arrest. Saunders and Johnson were booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center. They were released, McCormick said, between 4 and 5 a.m.
The incident occurred roughly 12 hours after the completion of OU's 24-17 victory over TCU.
Saunders caught seven passes for 108 yards and a touchdown in that game, giving him 53 catches for 766 yards in his eight games since the NCAA ruled him eligible after transferring from Fresno State. He leads the Sooners in both receptions and yards over that stretch.
Johnson is sitting out this season after transferring from Arizona.
OU coach Bob Stoops does not publicize disciplinary measures in response to his players' legal issues. He does have a track record of issuing one-game suspensions for similar offenses, however, putting Saunders in jeopardy of missing the Sooners' bowl game.
