December starts with 70s in Tulsa; rain chances tonight, this week

An very un-wintery start to December has Tulsa in the 70s, but rain and lower temperatures are forecast this week.

The National Weather Service forecasts highs in the upper 70s today in Tulsa, with wind gusts up to 40 mph.

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecast before midnight tonight, with new rainfall amounts of less than 0.1 of an inch expected without a thunderstorm, according to the weather service.

Later this week, highs in the low to mid-60s are forecast daily, with overnight lows in the mid-30s Tuesday night and lows in the 40s the rest of the week.

Chances of rain are also forecast for Thursday night, Friday and Saturday, according to the weather service.

Tulsa has not recorded any rainfall so far in December. Tulsa's highs have reached the 70s each day so far this month.

Tulsa finished November with 1.11 inches of rain, which was 1.7 inches below normal rainfall for that month. Temperatures in November ranged from a high of 88 degrees Nov. 2, to a low of 24 degrees Nov. 27.
