Hospitality House of Tulsa will hold its Night of Hospitality beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday at 1135 S. Victor Ave.
Sunny Leigh, co-host of KVOO-98.5 FM's morning show, will be the emcee of the event, which features a musically-synchronized light show, a visit from Santa and performances from Bixby native and country music's rising star, Justin Adams and local entertainer Kinsey Marie Thomasson.
Afterward, Hospitality House volunteers will share holiday cheer and deliver 500 "waiting-room survival kits" to families in need.
"This annual event is another way we are able to extend our vision of boundless hospitality outside of our organization's limited space and into our community to serve these families in need," said Toni Moore, president and CEO of Hospitality House of Tulsa.
The "waiting-room survival kits" provide families who are sleeping in waiting rooms or cars during a medical crisis with items such as pillows, blankets, food, water, travel-size hygiene items and reading material. Annually, more than 25,000 patients travel to Tulsa for inpatient medical care, accompanied by family members and caregivers who are without financial resources for expenses such as lodging and food, especially during a lengthy medical stay. Hospitality House of Tulsa serves as a "home away from home" for these families.
Hospitality House's Night of Hospitality event kicks off its annual fundraiser - Room in the Inn, Room in our Hearts - through which community members can illuminate a Christmas light on Hospitality House for $10, representing a night of lodging for a family. Each light may be dedicated to someone special this holiday season, and a light will be illuminated in their honor.
Donations can be given through mobile devices or smartphones by going to tulsaworld.com/givehht, or donate online at tulsaworld.com/hospitalityhouse, or by calling 918-794-0088.
The Room in the Inn, Room in our Hearts Christmas light show consists of 10,200 lights, synchronized to music. From Thursday through Jan. 3, community members can park their vehicles in the Hillcrest Physician's building parking lot, directly across from the facility at 1135 S. Victor Ave, and tune into a local radio frequency to enjoy the light show. Light sponsorships will be available until Jan. 3 as well, benefitting families in medical crisis.
Justin Adams' high energy performances of country-meets-rock songs showcase his talents.
The concert is free and open to the public, but those attending are encouraged to bring items needed for the "kits," including a lap blanket (new), two bottled waters, two microwavable soups (Campbell's Soup at Hand or Healthy Choice), a package of snack crackers, two breakfast bars, a box of travel size tissue, a packet of wet wipes, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a set of travel-size hygiene items (lotion, shampoo, conditioner), and a bottle of hand sanitizer.
Sponsors are: Tulsa Adjustment Bureau, Waters Charitable Foundation and Relevance Ministries, gold star; St. John Health System, red ball; Ruhrpumpen, green garland; Arvest Bank, waiting-room survival kit sponsor; and Lawn America, Christmas light sponsor.
