1. Kansas State: Collin Klein will have a busy month, beginning with Saturday’s trip to New York City for the Heisman announcement and ending with a Fiesta Bowl game against Oregon.

2. Oklahoma: Quarterback Landry Jones will end his college career in the same spot where he saw his first action: Cowboys Stadium. The Cotton Bowl matchup against Texas A&M will be one of the bowl season’s top games.

3. TCU: The Frogs had one strange debut in the Big 12 Conference. TCU won all of its league road games but lost all four of its conference games at home.

4. Texas: The Longhorns put up a fight in the first half of the Kansas State game before hitting a wall. Will Mack Brown be back next year? It seems likely, but the fan base’s patience is wearing razor thin.

5. Baylor: Art Briles has elevated the Bears to new heights during his past five years at Baylor. How much will his name pop up at coaching vacancies around the country this month?

6. Oklahoma State: The Cowboys have lost five games in a single season, the most it has dropped in the past five seasons. Is it a rebuilding year or sign of things to come for OSU?

7. West Virginia: Quarterback Geno Smith is headed to New York City this month. Not for the Heisman Trophy presentation, as expected earlier this year, but for the Pinstripe Bowl.

8. Iowa State: The Cyclones will try to end their 2012 football season the same way it began — with a victory over Tulsa. The teams will meet again next September in Chapman Stadium.

9. Texas Tech: The Red Raiders struggled down the stretch with losses in four of their final five games. They will face a Minnesota team in the Meineke Car Care Bowl that has lost three of its final four.

10. Kansas: Basketball season will be a saving grace for Kansas fans this season after the Jayhawks lost their final 11 games in Charlie Weis’ debut season.
