Letter to the Editor: Thanks

Thank you, Tulsa World Editorial Board, and thank you, Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals, for calling a spade a spade. The appellate court called Oklahoma County District Judge Bill Graves denying a name change to Christie Ann Harvey an "abuse of authority." Your editorial called Graves' ruling "ridiculous" and raised the question of "his fitness to serve on the bench."
Every lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender child endures countless years of bullying, harassment, and suffering because those in power fail to serve the ones they are required to protect.
So you can imagine the outrage and horror that swept through the Oklahoma LBGT community when the bully was on the bench? I am proud there were smart people and powerful people who said this is "abuse." I am proud the Tulsa World applauded those who overturned Graves' decision.
