C.J. Davis was born to Rev. Clarence Jackson and Cleo Marie Goodson Davis in Clinton, OK, on June 19, 1946. He died peacefully with his family at his side on December 1, 2012, after a short battle with cancer. During C.J.’s lifetime, he lived in the Oklahoma communities of Rocky, Okeene and Oklahoma City before eventually settling in Talala. C.J. attended Northeast High School in Oklahoma City, participating in the ROTC program and graduating in 1964. His humble beginnings necessitated him working a variety of jobs, with his first job at the early age of 12. Upon completing high school, he began his working career with Oklahoma Publishing Company and then moved on to his long-term job with Amoco Production Company as a Facility Operations Manager. He retired in 1998 after 28 years of faithful service. C.J. met his wife Lynn Wiesmann Davis while working at Amoco, and they were married when he retired at the age of 50. Upon retirement, he because a rancher in Talala raising Angus cattle. Preceded in death by his parents Rev. Clarence Jackson and Cleo; two siblings: Betty Valdez and Patricia Tate. C.J. is survived by his wife Lynn; two children: Shelly Davis and Lee Davis; seven grandchildren: Kristen, Taylor, Lauren, Keaton, Madison, Sydney & Chase; one great grandchild: Tyler; two siblings: LaWanna Swart (husband Lewis, deceased), Robert Davis (wife Linda); one foster sister: Wilma Shipman; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. C.J. was known as “a man’s man.” He was a gentleman, devoted family man and a hard working cowboy and rancher. C.J. loved horses and enjoyed trail riding with his brother, children and wife. C.J. also enjoyed watching his kids play football and basketball in the Oologah-Talala school system. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bit-by-Bit Therapeutic Riding Center in Oologah, OK, St. Therese Catholic Church in Collinsville, OK, or the National Rifle Association. Rosary prayer service will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., at Mowery Funeral Service, 9110 North Garnett Road, Owasso, OK. Christian burial on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at Memorial Chapel, 13313 North Kelley Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK. Interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City.
