Fire officials are attempting to determine what caused a blaze that displaced five people and resulted in the deaths of four dogs Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to a home in the 3500 block of East King Street about 3:35 p.m., said District Fire Chief Bryan Hickerson.

The fire started in an garage attached to the one-story home and spread to the attic, Hickerson said.

Two people were in the home at the time of the fire, but were not injured.

During the process of battling the fire, firefighters pulled seven dogs from the home.

Four of the dogs perished, Hickerson said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Tulsa chapter of the American Red Cross assisted three women, one man and a child who were displaced.
