MUSKOGEE — A Konawa man was sentenced to 63 months in prison for attempting to bomb a natural gas pipeline near Okemah.
Daniel Wells Herriman, 41, was found guilty by a federal jury in May of attempting to destroy or damage property by means of an explosive and making a destructive device, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced Wednesday.
Herriman was accused of making an improvised explosive device, placing it under the pipeline and setting the timer.
A pipeline employee discovered the device, which was dismantled by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad.
The defense argued that Herriman was legally insane at the time of the crime.
