Cooking classes teach recipes for holiday entertaining

There are a few cooking classes left in December if you are interested in brushing up on your holiday entertaining skills.
Holiday side dishes, appetizers and cocktails are some of the specialities local schools are offering this month.
And, if you are looking for a gift, the schools offer gift certificates, and plenty of classes are coming up.
THURSDAY
"Holiday Party!": Learn how to make fun cocktails and party foods. Includes demo instruction, recipes and food and beverages, 6:30-9 p.m., Helen Pals, Galley Sink, $75.
"Holiday Side Dishes": Cauliflower Gratin with shallots, thyme, parsley, horseradish and cheeses; Moroccan Couscous; Asparagus with Leeks and Pancetta, 7 p.m., NeMar Noulles, $55.
MONDAY
"Holiday Soups": Corn Crab Chowder, Roasted Butternut Squash Soup with Pancetta, White Bean and Spinach Soup, 7 p.m., NeMar Noulles, $55.
DEC. 12
"Festive Breakfasts": Ginger and Pumpkin Pancakes with Ginger Butter, Potato Pancakes with Smoked Salmon, Baked Eggs served with the Ultimate Grilled Cheese, 7 p.m., NeMar Noulles, $60.
DEC. 18
"Flavors of Feliz Navidad": Blue Corn Pancakes with Shredded Spicy Chicken delightful bites, Melted Cheese Casserole with Chorizo and Roasted Chilies, Shrimp Ceviche "Cocktail" served in cocktail glasses, 7 p.m. Ne Mar Noulles, $60.
DEC. 19
"SUSHI!": Join guest instructor Chef Bill Harris, formerly of Thyme Bistro, as he tells stories of his time in Japan. Create Philadelphia rolls, nigiri, miso soup and even a surprise tofu dish. Class includes hands-on instruction, food, recipes, wine pairings, a cool Urban Kitchen logo apron and a sushi mat, 6-8 p.m., Urban Kitchen, $60.
