Cox Media Group has completed its previously announced purchase of Tulsa TV stations KOKI and KMYT.
Kansas City, Mo.-based Newport Television LLC announced the sale in July, a deal that also included two stations in Jacksonville, Fla.
The value of the Tulsa transactions was not announced, but Newport previously said it would sell 22 stations in three transactions totaling $1 billion.
KOKI, Tulsa's Fox affiliate, and KMYT, a My Network TV affiliate, are both based at 2625 S. Memorial Drive.
"Our team in Tulsa is thrilled to be joining a company that not only has deep historic roots in the news business, but also is continually looking toward the future and making valuable contributions in communities around the nation," Holly Allen, vice president and general manager of KOKI-TV and KMYT-TV, said in a news release.
"We are excited by the opportunity to partner with the CMG radio and Cox cable properties in Tulsa, and look forward to bringing our new innovative media platform to Tulsa," Allen said.
Newport Television acquired KOKI in June 2008 at a time when it was ramping up television station purchases.
Also at that time, Newport laid off an undisclosed number of employees as it trimmed 7.5 percent of its staff companywide.
Cox Media Group, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises, also owns five radio stations in Tulsa.
