Two simultaneous emergencies at neighboring schools on Wednesday required police and ambulances to be called out.

At Hale Junior High School, a student apparently suffering from a prescription drug overdose was transported by EMSA, as was a Hale High School student who suffered a head injury in a fight involving at least eight students.

Chris Payne, spokesman for Tulsa Public Schools, said the two incidents were not related.

"At the junior high, two other students were involved. Their parents were contacted and those students were released to them."

At Hale High School, a student was arrested in connection with the fight as well as possession of marijuana after officers reportedly found multiple bags of the substance.

"The parents of the other students involved in the fight were called and a meeting was held this afternoon with those parents," Payne said.
