The Sooners take a six-game winning streak into this one, their latest victory coming last Sunday over Marist, 68-55. The Red Foxes put up a fight and trailed by just four at the half and then one with eight minutes remaining. OU finished the game on a 17-5 run, however, and held on to prevail.
The Sooners went just 6-of-23 from 3-point range. Guard Aaryn Ellenberg, who entered the game tied for the NCAA lead in 3s per game, hit just one shot from beyond the arc. But she still found a way to score 18 points. Guard Morgan Hook added 16, and Whitney Hand put up 12 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots.
OU isn't expected to be pressed hard tonight. North Texas dropped its season opener to Texas State and has gone 2-4 since. The Mean Green lost coach Karen Aston to Texas after last season, and is now led by Mike Petersen. Petersen coached TCU in the late 90s, and became Wake Forest's all-time victories leader in eight seasons before moving to North Texas.
