span class="leadp">A Tulsa man was jailed Thursday night in a robbery and an attempted robbery near his apartment.
Tulsa police arrested Courtney John Fletcher, 36, shortly after responding to an alarm call at the Fiesta Mart convenience store just east of 21st Street and Sheridan Road at 8:15 p.m., according to an arrest report.
Officers approached Fletcher, who reportedly matched the description given of the robbery suspect, in a nearby grocery store parking lot when he ran south to 23rd Street, where police saw him getting into a vehicle, they said.
Sgt. Kurt Dodd tackled Fletcher, and Fletcher punched the officer, the report states. Dodd then pepper sprayed Fletcher three times in 2 1/2 minutes as he continued to struggle with Fletcher.
A witness to a robbery 15 minutes earlier at Kung Fu Kitchen, which is about a mile east of Fiesta Mart, identified Fletcher as the assailant in a robbery there as well, according to the release.
The robber obtained "a considerable amount of cash" from the restaurant but left empty-handed from the convenience store, police said.
Jail records show Fletcher lives in an apartment near 25th Place and Memorial Drive.
Fletcher is being held at the Tulsa Jail on armed robbery, first-degree robbery by force or fear, assault and battery on a police officer and obstruction complaints. His bond is set at $101,500.
He pleaded guilty to nine counts of second-degree robbery in 2006. He was sentenced to one 10-year prison sentence and eight five-year sentences, which ran concurrently and began in November 2008. Department of Corrections officials said he was released in August.
