Couple threatened by burglar in Tulsa home

A burglar threatened a Tulsa couple in their bedroom after gaining access to a guarded and gated community early Friday.

Tulsa police responded to the 6300 block of South Yorktown Avenue at 12:55 a.m.

A man and woman at the residence told officers that a man with his face obscured and wearing a hooded sweatshirt entered their bedroom and told them not to look at him, police said.

He reportedly threatened the woman with a knife.

The man said it felt like the burglar held a gun to his head, but he didn't see a firearm during the burglary, said Cpl. Chris Bauer.

The burglar asked the couple where their valuables were and stole an iPad, cell phones and jewelry, Bauer said.

The security guard said a suspicious-looking man was pacing in front of the complex about 30 minutes before the burglary.

Tulsa man is arrested in prostitution sting

A Tulsa man was arrested on a complaint of human trafficking during a prostitution sting late Thursday.

Police apprehended Tarran Arnell Brinson, 23, after meeting with a 15-year-old who solicited prostitution to an undercover officer at the Super 8 motel, 6616 E. Archer St., according to Brinson's arrest report.

An officer arranged to meet the girl through backpage.com, a public website for posting free classified ads, police said.

While the officer was inside the motel room with the girl, a second officer conducting surveillance saw a black GMC Yukon Denali drive by the room twice, the report states.

The girl received a text message warning her police were outside the room while the Denali was in the parking lot, police said.

Hotel staff confirmed Brinson rented the room. Officers later found a key to the room in Brinson's pocket and marijuana in his sock, according to the report.

Brinson is being held at the Tulsa Jail in lieu of $100,250.

Fire at Bronze Horse was likely electrical short

PAWHUSKA - An electrical short in a wax pot is the probable cause of a fire that destroyed a foundry early Friday, Pawhuska Fire Capt. Lloyd Arnce said.

The blaze at the Bronze Horse Foundry, about four miles south of town on Oklahoma 99, was reported at about 12:50 a.m., Arnce said. A woman in the facility at the time escaped unharmed, he said.

Arnce had no immediate cost estimate on damage.

A volunteer Pawhuska firefighter broke his foot fighting the blaze, and another Pawhuska firefighter became dehydrated, Arnce said. Both men were treated at Jane Phillips Medical Center and released, he said.

The Bronze Horse was established in 1981 by artist John Free Sr.
