SPERRY - Berryhill swept Nowata on the basketball court in winners bracket semifinal action of the Sperry Invitational Tournament Friday night.
The Maidens won 46-35 in the girls contest while the Chiefs posted a 75-63 victory in the boys game.
Both Berryhill teams improve to 4-0 and move on to Saturday's championship games. The Maidens play Caney Valley at 7 p.m. and the Chiefs face Sperry at 8:30 p.m.
The Nowata squads are now both 1-3. They will play in Saturday's third-place games. The girls play Sperry at 4 p.m. and the boys face Caney Valley at 5:30 p.m.
Berryhill 46, Nowata 35 (girls): The Maidens used a balanced scoring attack to outlast the Ironmen. Alyssa May came off the bench to score 15 points for Berryhill.
Josey Hale topped Nowata with 15 points.
The Maidens led 31-24 after three quarters and hung on as Ashley Williams scored all nine of her points in the final quarter.
"Ashley played well in the fourth quarter," said Berryhill head coach Rick Tipton. "She hit some big buckets and made a key three-point play. She is going to be our leader."
May scored all but one of her team's points in the third quarter to give Berryhill its advantage heading into the final quarter.
"She is a streaky shooter," said Tipton about May. "We really needed that from her tonight. Overall though I felt this was our best balance of scoring so far this season."
Berryhill 75, Nowata 63 (boys): Colin Belveal finished with a career-high 30 points and made 7-of-8 3-pointers.
Chandler Moczygemba added 13 points for Berryhill. Tyler Brock and Micah Hayes scored 14 and 12 points respectively, to pace Nowata.
The Chiefs were strong at the free-throw line, making 20-of-23 attempts.
Berryhill was ahead 16-5 after the first quarter. Nowata, however, fought back in the second period and closed within 36-31 at the half thanks to Brock's 35-footer at the buzzer.
The Chiefs pushed their lead to 59-49 after three quarters. Belveal and Hayes each made multiple 3-pointers for their respective sides in the quarter.
Berryhill then stretched its advantage to as many as 24 points midway through the final quarter.
