The Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock will return to Tulsa to "Celebrate the Holy Days" at 8 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Cascia Hall PAC, 2525 S. Yorktown Ave.

The concert is presented by Choregus Productions and will feature the six-member group performing seasonal and sacred songs from around the world.

Founded in 1973, Sweet Honey in the Rock has established itself as a unique force in popular music, applying rich vocal harmonies to music from diverse cultures to celebrate what is positive in life and to address pointedly such wrongs as social injustice and prejudice in whatever form it might take.

The group's most recent release is the song "Are We a Nation?" It was recorded as part of a project called "Border Songs," featuring songs by American and Mexican artists addressing the controversy over Arizona's immigration laws.

Tickets for the concert are $15-$45 and may be purchased by calling 918-688-6112 or online at tulsaworld.com/mytix

During the group's time in Tulsa, it will also present a special choral singing workshop, to be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 15 at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 3500 S. Peoria Ave.

The workshop offers an up-close-and-personal introduction to the members of the group, its history and mission, and how it the ensemble developed its unique a cappella vocal phrasing and style.

The workshop is suitable for singers from high school age to adult and is ideal for choir groups. It will include an interactive component in which a randomly selected choir performs, and Sweet Honey in the Rock members will provide assessment and critique.

A question-and-answer session will conclude the workshop.

Admission to the workshop is $10. Each workshop ticket purchase is good for $10 off any ticket purchase for the Sweet Honey in the Rock performance Saturday evening.

For more information about the workshop, call 918-688-6112.
