Charges were filed against a Tulsa man who hit a vehicle while in possession of drug paraphernalia last week.

John Paul Willhite, 23, was charged in Tulsa County District Court Thursday with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, court documents show.

Prosecutors said Willhite allegedly struck a vehicle from behind with his red Dodge Ram 1500 in the 1600 block of West 51st Street Nov. 30 "in such a manner that it became a dangerous weapon," documents said.

The pickup truck was then spotted exiting the QuikTrip at 1607 West 51st Street and was later stopped in the 5000 block of South 27th West Avenue, according to a police report.

During a search of Willhite, police found a marijuana pipe and marijuana residue in his jeans, the report said.

He remains in the Tulsa Jail as of Saturday.
