BROKEN ARROW - A Broken Arrow man was arrested on allegations he left a toddler and infant alone in a vehicle while he drank inside a restaurant.
Jason Daniel Murray, 31, was booked into the Tulsa Jail on complaints of child abuse, carrying a firearm into a place where alcohol is sold, failing to inform police he was carrying a weapon, possession of a firearm under the influence of alcohol and public intoxication, according to an arrest report.
Broken Arrow police responded to a report of possible child neglect at Buffalo Wild Wings about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
At the scene, officers discovered two small children in car seats in the backseat of a running vehicle that was locked, the report said.
When confronted by police in the parking lot, Murray denied leaving the children in the vehicle, claiming someone else placed the kids in the car without his knowledge.
Officers noted Murray had slurred speech, his breath smelled of alcohol, and he admitted to "having a drink inside the restaurant," said the report.
The restaurant manager told police that Murray had been in the bar area while drinking for an estimated 20 minutes, the report indicated.
As he was being taken into custody, Murray informed officers that he was carrying a loaded gun. Police said Murray has a valid concealed weapons license, the report said.
The children, a 5-month-old and a 2-year-old, were taken from the scene by their mother. According to police, the toddler has a heart defect and is scheduled to have surgery.
Murray is being held in the Tulsa Jail on $107,100 bond.
