Letter to the Editor: Pious proclamations

While most of America was still in shock over the tragedy that happened in Kansas City, it didn't take long for the liberal media gun-control advocates to climb aboard their self-righteous soapboxes.

The most egregious was NBC sportscaster Bob Costas and his 90-second diatribe at halftime of the Dec. 2 NBC football game. He quoted a newspaper journalist as saying that "If guns weren't readily available, both Mr. Belcher and Ms. Perkins would very well be alive today."

Oh really? And just how does he know that? If he had beat her with a baseball bat or stabbed her to death, should we ban bats and knives?

Costas and those in his position sometimes confuse fame with intelligence. Their pious proclamations are out of touch with most of us living in middle America. What's really funny is that celebrities such as Costas carry firearms for their own protection. Remember when Rosie O'Donnell dressed down Tom Selleck over gun control? A few weeks later her bodyguards were picked up for carrying firearms without a license. So, to those self-righteous liberals in the media, I say practice what you preach.
