Steven Ryan Elsass, age 39, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Ryan was born December 17, 1972, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Steven John Elsass and Patty Sue Elsass. He is a 1991 graduate of John Marshall High School. Ryan attended Oklahoma State University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Ryan was a 12 year veteran of the Oklahoma City Police Department achieving the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to the Santa Fe Division. In addition to his duties as a law enforcement officer, he was a driving instructor and field training officer for the Oklahoma City Police Department. He displayed a great passion and dedication to his profession and was respected and admired by all who knew him and served with him. Ryan will be remembered for his spirited, kind heart, adventurous nature and calm and gentle manner and will be greatly missed by his friends and family. He enjoyed playing golf, soccer, scuba diving, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his son, Aden. Ryan is survived by his mother Patty S. Elsass, his son Aden Ryan Elsass, grandmother Bonnie I. Adams and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 12 - 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Vondel L Smith & Son Mortuary 2 PM, Monday, December 10, 2012, with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. All are invited to a reception at Quail Springs Methodist Church following burial. This obituary was published in the Tulsa World on 12/9/2012.
