Star quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Jay Cutler were injured Sunday, although Griffin's sprained right knee did not cost Washington a victory.
Griffin was hurt in the final minute, but fellow rookie Kirk Cousins came on to throw for a touchdown and a 2-point conversion with 29 seconds remaining. The Redskins then won in overtime against Baltimore, 31-28, and later said Griffin doesn't have a major knee injury.
Cutler left a 21-14 loss at Minnesota with an injury to his neck after taking a hit to the head in the fourth quarter by defensive end Everson Griffen that drew a penalty. Cutler stayed in for the rest of that drive, but when the Bears got the ball back Jason Campbell was in the game instead.
As for Griffin, the sensational No. 2 overall draft pick, he was helped off the field after Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata landed on him at the end of a 13-yard scramble. Griffin returned for four plays, then dropped to the turf on his knees and left again.
Griffin had an X-ray at the stadium, and doctors poking at his knee told him that his ligaments "felt good."
Ravens guard Marshal Yanda sprained his right ankle and wore a black walking boot on his foot in the locker room. LB Jameel McClain had a neck injury, but X-rays were negative. FB Vonta Leach sprained his ankle. Ray Rice had a left hip pointer.
The Bears took several more hits on the injury front.
Kicker Robbie Gould strained his left calf in warm-ups, limiting his ability to take long kicks. He was kicking midrange field goals without trouble shortly before the game started, but punter Adam Podlesh handled the kickoffs.
Defensive tackle Henry Melton limped off in the first quarter and was taken to the locker room on a cart. He returned in the second quarter but then hurt his shoulder.
Vikings CB A.J. Jefferson suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter and will be re-evaluated on Monday.
The right leg of Buffalo RB Fred Jackson was sandwiched by two Rams as they made a tackle on a 2-yard run near midfield in the Bills' loss to St. Louis. With a towel over his head, Jackson was then carted off from the sideline, with fans chanting "Freddie! Freddie!"
Coach Chan Gailey would only say the injury did not look good after the game.
Rams safety Craig Dahl did not return after sustaining a concussion and left tackle Rodger Saffold couldn't finish because of a nagging back injury.
Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles returned at Cleveland after sustaining a rib injury that knocked him out for one series. Kansas City, though, lost leading receiver Dwayne Bowe, who injured his ribs in the first half and didn't come back.
San Francisco DT Demarcus Dobbs went down with a right knee injury and was carted to the locker room against the Dolphins. LB Tavares Gooden hurt his ribs.
