Pleasing outlook: Attractive Wakefield Park home combines comfort, beautiful pond views

Wakefield Park is an appealing neighborhood with 52 home sites. A few of the houses are near one of two ponds.

Built in 2005, the home at 12514 S. Third Place is in a cul-de-sac and backs to the larger of two water features.

When Greg and Kimberly Nation were visiting friends in the neighborhood, they decided to tour the open house.

“We weren’t in the market but fell in love with the house, the views and the neighborhood, and we had to have it,” said Greg.

There are so many things the couple appreciate about the home, but the scenic views of the pond to be enjoyed from most of the rooms is No. 1.

“The pond is fully stocked with fish, possesses a Florentine fountain and contains domestic geese and ducks that reside at the pond all year long,” Greg said.

“Additionally, wild geese visit the pond throughout the year. It is beautiful watching the geese land in formation on the water.

“The house being located on a cul-de-sac provides a safe environment for children to play freely without having to worry about traffic,” he added. “The neighborhood pool is a wonderful amenity because the family gains all the benefits of having a pool without having to deal with maintenance and cost issues.“

The home’s interior is both inviting and comfortable, starting in the large entry, which includes a lighted art niche. Wainscoting adorns the formal dining room, which includes a large picture window. Across the entry, French doors open to the study. Hardwood floors, which the Nations added, flow throughout the main living areas on the first level. The couple also added beautiful custom drapes throughout the home as well as surround sound in the upstairs media/game room.

The living room includes a corner fireplace and adjoins the kitchen and breakfast nook. “The house is designed for entertaining,” Greg said. “The views from the kitchen, living, master bedroom and two upstairs bedrooms overlook the pond. Also, the back porch opens up to the pond and provides a fun family entertainment venue for cookouts or quiet visiting while watching the ducks and geese play. We have thoroughly enjoyed watching the baby geese learning to swim each spring and have found relaxing on the porch a great way to unwind after a stressful day at work.”

The master suite is located on the main level, while three additional bedrooms are upstairs, along with two full baths, one of which is a Jack-and-Jill bathroom. “This floor plan will work well for a large family,” said Debbie Sokolowski, the Coldwell Banker Select Realtor representing the property.

“The lot is outstanding,” she added. “Lots like this are few in this neighborhood. Most of them back to another house. The fact that you are right on the biggest pond in the neighborhood is so nice, and you have an open fence that doesn’t block the view. “ Listed for $289,000, the home will be open 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
