OKLAHOMA CITY — A New Jersey town honored Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. by renaming itself for a day.

Glen Rock, N.J., on Monday took on the name of Oklahoma G&E to honor the utility for the help it rendered after Hurricane Sandy.

Crews from the Oklahoma City-based company spent six days last month repairing electric lines in New Jersey. Glen Rock Mayor John van Keuren said he was impressed that the workers drove all the way from Oklahoma to restore power to the community of 12,000 residents.

OG&E spokeswoman Kathleen O'Shea said the town had been dark for a week before company crews arrived. Van Keuren issued a proclamation of thanks in which he thanked the Oklahoma utility workers.
