Employees of a Tulsa liquor store overpowered an armed robber and held him until a security guard took over Tuesday night, police said.

Cpl. J.J. Peter said the robber, armed with a gun, walked into a liquor store in the 1600 block of North Peoria Avenue about 9 p.m. and demanded that a clerk place cash from the register in a plastic bag he was carrying.

When the robber placed the gun in his pocket to assist the clerk, two store employees grabbed him and restrained him, Peter said.

A security guard who saw what was happening then entered the store and handcuffed the robber, holding him until police arrived, Peter said.

The man, whose identity was not disclosed Tuesday night, was arrested without incident, police said. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
