Softball: Cowgirls sign six

Six high school seniors have signed on to play at Oklahoma State.

Madi Ellis, a senior catcher/third baseman at Yukon, was The Oklahoman's Big All-City Player of the Year, batting .528 with 38 runs and 25 RBIs.

Madisyn Long, a shortstop, led Midwest City's Carl Albert to Class 5A state titles in 2010 and '11. She is niece of OSU football coach Mike Gundy and the daughter of former OSU baseball player Jimmy Long.

Peyton Walker, a pitcher/outfielder at Hammon, finished her career with a 109-18 record with 1,100 strikeouts. She also had 59 career home runs.

Whitney Whitehorn, a pitcher from Owasso, was 22-3 with a 0.90 ERA, 14 shutouts and two no-hitters this season. She batted .487 with 17 doubles, 10 home runs and 50 RBIs.

Also signed were Miranda Cavin, a catcher from Elk Grove, Ill., and Meagan Lively, a pitcher from Monroe, La.
