Richard Dean Berry Sr. of Broken Arrow, OK passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012. He was 77. Richard was born on November 28, 1935 in Palestine, TX to Joe D and Laucille Berry. He grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Central High School. After high school he joined the Navy being honorably discharged after 4 years of service. Among Richard’s hobbies of golfing, photography, and writing, he also had a lifelong passion for fishing that began at an early age. This passion landed him a job at Okiebug where he worked part-time for many years. His joy of fishing was passed down to his sons and niece where they made many memories together on Grand Lake. Richard retired from American Airlines in 1996 after 26 years of service, where he was employed as a security officer. He was affectionately referred to as Sarge and made many memories and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father Joe D Berry, mother Laucille Berry, and son Wade Berry. He is survived by wife Edris, sister Joan Graham of Tulsa, Ok ,sons Richard Jr and wife Angie, of Catoosa, OK, Donald, of Collinsville, OK, step-children Steve Lindsey and wife Carolyn, of Olathe, KS, Kim Mauch and husband Ron, of Bixby, OK, and Jennifer McLaughlin and husband Sean, of St. Louis, MO, 12 grandchildren, and niece Angela Peters and husband Chris, of Poteau, OK. Life celebration will be Monday, December 17, 2012 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. This obituary was published in the Tulsa World on 12/16/2012.
