The old lady by the zoo is back and better than ever. Mohawk Golf Course lost all 36 greens over two years ago, on two courses, Woodbine and Pecan Valley. Then labor and management got together and brought them back, where they are today. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes are all ship shape.

There is a lot of history concerning these courses, especially Woodbine, which is the eldest and most popular.

While working in Tulsa many years ago at Spartan Aviation, Ben Hogan played Woodbine, the only course there at the time. Hogan and friends came upon a par four, dog-leg left on the back nine, probably No. 13. They were up in the tee box, close to the zoo and he asked if he could walk down the fairway and find the green. He crossed the creek went down the fairway and returned to the tee box. The creek he went over ran on the left side of the fairway with many trees. He teed up, hit the ball over the trees and on the green.

So many stories, so many years. Here's to Mohawk's labor and management for bringing the old lady back, better than ever.
