People & Places: Holiday gala benefits LOOK Musical Theatre's 2013 season

LOOK Musical Theatre stars sang for their supper during the organization's annual Holiday Supper Gala held recently at the University of Tulsa's Lorton Performance Center.

LOOK, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2013, presents musicals and cabarets in the summer in repertory fashion using talent from all over the country, some of which was on display at the gala. Cabaret favorite Andrea Leap entertained guests with "Ribbons down my Back" from "Hello, Dolly!" Northeastern State University voice faculty member Shannon Unger sang an aria from Rossini's "The Italian Girl in Algiers."

Other performers included Patrick Howle, Nicholas Hunter, Stephen Glasco, Stephen Dagrosa, and LOOK mainstay April Golliver who collaborated with cellist Kari Caldwell on a Leonard Bernstein piece titled "Dream of Me." Artistic Director Eric Gibson hosted the evening and led the entertainment from the piano.

Major sponsors for the event included The John Steele Zink Foundation, Richard Vondrehle, Josephine Winter, Susan and Tim Young, and The Helmerich Foundation.

On the stage of the performance center, patrons viewed items in a silent auction as classical guitarist Randy Wimer serenaded them with traditional holiday music. Guests were then ushered into the lobby, doused in purple lights and enjoyed holiday arrangements created by Toni's Flowers. The dinner menu was created by the university's executive chef, Tim Anderson.

Benefits from the Holiday Supper provide support for the LOOK 2013 season, which will feature the great Jerry Herman musical "Hello, Dolly!" which starred the effervescent Carol Channing. LOOK's production of "Dolly" and the company's other offerings will run June and July 2013 at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
