Lighthouse Electric Inc. agrees to pay back wages in overtime dispute
Tulsa-based Lighthouse Electric Inc. has paid $42,452 in overtime back wages to 18 current and former electricians following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division, the federal agency said in a press release.
Federal officials said they found violations of the overtime and record-keeping provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
"The employer benefited by failing to pay employees for travel time to and from their work sites," said Cynthia Watson, regional administrator for the Wage and Hour Division in the Southwest.
Lighthouse Electric employs nearly 85 people who specialize in providing electrical services in the construction industry.
The company has agreed to comply fully with the FLSA in the future. Back wages have been paid in full, the division said.
