Letter to the Editor: Bible lesson

This letter is primarily for God-fearing folks, or any who might want to be.

"When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, people groan ... If a ruler pays attention to falsehood, all his ministers become wicked." Pity the poor people whose leader is left to his own devices. Character always trumps scheming.

"God created man in his own image ... male and female, ... and behold, it was very good ... For this reason a man shall be joined to his wife." Male-female monogamy is the invention of God himself - one tampers with it at his own risk.

"If anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat either." Politicians make poor philanthropists, always tempted to give away money that is not their own to serve their ulterior motives. Beware the bleeding-hearts and the free-loaders. Genuine charity is a tricky business.

"He who is guarantor for a stranger will surely suffer for it."

"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Immigration is a two-edged sword: both the nation being forsaken and the nation being adopted will experience fallout from it.

"Blessed are the peacemakers." All shootings require guns. Like speeding laws, gun restrictions aim to prevent folks from killing other folks. If you fatally shoot a bad guy, you are likely sending him straight to hell (unless, of course, you don't believe in hell).
