Buy Broken Arrow's $3,000 prize unclaimed

BROKEN ARROW - The $10,000 grand prize in the Buy Broken Arrow campaign is spoken for, but a $3,000 consolation prize has yet to be claimed.

The annual Chamber of Commerce campaign distributes tickets to local shoppers for a chance to win one of three prizes in a drawing.

This year's top prize went to Jill Haney, and a $2,000 consolation prize went to Ruth Biggs.

April Sailsbury, the chamber's membership services director, said the final winning ticket number was not immediately claimed, so officials drew another.

That ticket, No. 1623877, was distributed at the Reasor's store at 1100 E. Kenosha St. The ticket holder has until 3 p.m. Wednesday to claim the prize, or another ticket number will be drawn, Sailsbury said.

The ticket holder can call the chamber at 918-251-1518.

Ceremony to fete 86th Street North completion

OWASSO - The city will announce the completion of an 86th Street North widening project at a ceremony Friday.

The dedication of the 1.5-mile, four-lane stretch will take place at 10 a.m. between Mingo Road and Memorial Drive.

That portion of the project will open to through traffic for the first time since April.

Two lanes of the other part of the project, from Mingo Road to Main Street, opened Dec. 13.

The city of Owasso, Tulsa County and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation collaborated on the effort, which included drainage enhancements, curb and gutter installation, retaining wall additions and sidewalk installation.

The remaining two lanes along this stretch and traffic signals at 86th Street North and Memorial are expected to be operational by Dec. 31.
