The band OneRepublic, whose frontman Ryan Tedder was born and raised in Tulsa, has started a fund for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

As of Wednesday morning, 578 funders had already donated $80,000, according to information sent from Tedder's family in Tulsa.

The band hopes to raise $500,000 within 30 days. The money will go to the families of the victims to help them with any financial needs.

In a video posted on the donation site, Tedder said, "There are innumerable costs that add up during a tragedy like this, from loss of work to medical bills to funeral costs, and the last thing this community and these families should be worried about is money at a time like this."
