Letter to the Editor: Dictatorial powers

Many of us feel a large measure of disappointment in that our esteemed lady governor has rejected federal funds for use in Oklahoma's cost of health care for its citizens. Her unilateral decision frees those same funds to now be spent in other states for the same purpose in a state that doesn't include such a closed-minded person who apparently has dictatorial powers, at least on this one subject.
But look at it from her viewpoint: She cannot help it, because she is a Republican. And today's Republican Party is not the party of Abe Lincoln. He cared about the lower income people, right on down the income scale to the no income people, the slaves.
Today's Republican Party attitude was expressed very clearly by Mitt Romney during the campaign when he said, in effect, that the lower 47 percent income group are a bunch of blood-sucking leeches. Today's Republican Party is all about profiteering, period.
An interesting question: Why do the people of Oklahoma, which is a low-ranking state in most any yardstick or measurement, including income, continue to vote for people who have never been on their side of the more important subjects - whether the subject is health care, wages, workers' safety, or pollution of the air, water or land?
Yet, Oklahoma is in the top three reddest of the red states. Go figure.
