A Texas man was arrested early Saturday on accusations he held an 85-year-old woman at gunpoint as he stole jewelry from her home.

Justin Kyle Barberousse, 23, of San Antonio was arrested on first-degree burglary after a former felony conviction, pointing a deadly weapon after a former felony conviction, possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction, possession of burglary tools after a former felony conviction, second-degree burglary after a former felony conviction and obstruction of a police officer complaints, jail records show.

Tulsa police were called to the 8000 block of East 32nd Street just before 6 a.m. in reference to a robbery, according to an arrest report.

An 85-year-old woman told police at the scene that Barberousse allegedly broke into her home, pointed a gun at her and stole jewelry before leaving, the report said.

The woman also said that Barberousse was able to enter the house after throwing a brick through a back door window and later fled with her possessions in a white pillow case, the report said.

Nearly two hours later, officers spotted Barberousse in the 3100 block of South Memorial Drive after it was reported a male fitting his description was seen breaking into a vehicle in the 8100 block of South 85th East Avenue.

After a short foot chase, Barberousee was apprehended in the 8000 block of East 31st Street, police said.

As he was being placed into custody, police recovered a 9 mm handgun from Barberousee’s back pants pocket, burglary tools and the stolen jewelry.

During interviews with detectives, Barberousee asked, “Can I go tell the old lady that I’m sorry?,” the report noted. He then allegedly went onto say, “I’m not a bad person.”

Barberousse, who pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and knowingly concealing stolen property charges in Tulsa County in 2010, is being held in the Tulsa Jail on $101,500 bond.
