80-year-old pedestrian dies after Cherry Street hit-and-run

An 80-year-old pedestrian who was injured Dec. 15 in a hit-and-run crash on Cherry Street died early Saturday, a family member said.
JoAnn Carlson was hit in a crosswalk at 15th Street and Rockford Avenue about 7:30 p.m. and was taken to St. John Medical Center in critical condition.
Granddaughter Elizabeth Carlson said she died about 3 a.m. Saturday.
Police described the vehicle that hit her as a newer-model white or silver sedan with "nice tires and rims" - possibly a Lincoln, Cadillac or Ford Taurus.
The vehicle was headed east and did not stop after the collision, police said.
