He's making a recovery at a new home with a state trooper.
Rookie is one "lucky dog," said Mark Myers, a spokesman for the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office.
On Dec. 5, a woman called 911 and reported that a man had tossed the 4-year-old German shepherd off Southeast 59th Street bridge over Interstate 40 in eastern Oklahoma County.
Rookie's life was saved by the extra efforts of Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Jennifer Fisher, an Oklahoma County sheriff's animal welfare worker, an animal shelter in Harrah and Oklahoma State University's veterinary teaching hospital.
