GRAMBLING, La. - Taleya Mayberry, Kadan Brady and Jessica McQuin all reached double digits in scoring to lead the University of Tulsa women's basketball team to a 75-62 win over Grambling State on Saturday afternoon at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Arena in Grambling, La.
Mayberry had 15 points to lead the Golden Hurricane, passing Kasie Pittman (1996-2000) to move into third place on the school's all-time scoring chart with 1,328 career points.
Brady and McQuin each scored 10, while Tiffani Couisnard, Loren McDaniel and Mariah Turner all added eight points. McDaniel led the Hurricane with eight rebounds, and Mayberry had five steals.
The teams went back and forth, trading the lead several times in the first 11 minutes of the first half, but a 21-4 Hurricane run to close out the half created a 38-28 advantage at the break.
TU never gave up the lead and climbed to a game-high 15-point advantage in the second half.
