Jack Harding Carter, 90, went home to be with Jesus on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012. He was born to Minnie and Weep Carter on January 22, 1922, in Collinsville, OK. A 1939 graduate of Collinsville High School, he married Thelma Arlene Hill on July 7, 1945. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year. He served in the 1st Infantry Division during World War II and was in the D-Day Invasion Landing at Omaha Beach. As a result of this service he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. A faithful member of Hale Baptist Church until it closed, he was then a member at Sheridan Road Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. For 38 years he worked for the General Services Administration in addition to having his own heating and air conditioning business in the Tulsa area. Since 2008, he has lived at the Baptist Village in Owasso. Survivors in addition to his wife, Thelma, include four sons Jack Jr., Tulsa; Craig (Debbie), Topeka, KS; Scott (Gayna), Tulsa; and Kevin (Judy), Kennett, MO; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be 11:30 AM, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 29, 2012 prior to the service. Interment will be in the Veterans Field of Honor at Floral Haven.
