Police are looking for two men who choked a woman and sexually assaulted her before they were chased off by a person driving by.
Investigators also are searching for the passer-by to get further descriptions of what he or she saw.
Shortly before 3 a.m. Dec. 21, a woman was walking west on Pine Street near Sheridan Road when two men approaching from the east called out to her, police said.
She cut through a parking lot, and they followed her to the 6100 block of East Pine Street, where one of them grabbed her from behind and pushed her into a ditch, police said.
One of the men used her necklace to choke her until she lost consciousness.
She came to with one man sexually assaulting her while the other stood by "and told the black male that he was 'next,' " police said.
The victim told police that a vehicle drove up and a person in it yelled out of the window for the men to stop. The men fled south along a privacy fence.
One assailant was described as black, in his mid- to late 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 150 to 170 pounds. His hair was in short twists, similar to dreadlocks, and he had a tattoo on the right side of his neck. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants with a large metal belt buckle.
The other assailant was white, in his mid- to late 20s and with a similar build as the first, but thinner. He had straight, short, blond hair and was wearing a baggy white T-shirt and light blue baggy jeans.
The victim said both men smelled of marijuana, police said.
