To the kind woman who found my checkbook Dec. 20 in the parking lot of a local store: I wish she had left her name with the receptionist when she brought it to the retirement center where I live so that I could thank her in person. I hope she reads this and knows that the extraordinary effort in seeing that the checks were returned to me was very much appreciated.
What a lovely Christmas gift to receive from a stranger.
