Notes: The Sooners return to action for the first time since their 70-46 wipeout of UC Riverside Dec. 22. The roster looks a little difference since then, thanks to two additions borrowed from the OU volleyball team.
Tara Dunn is a 6-foot-2 redshirt freshman from Poth, Texas. She was an all-district basketball player her senior season at Poth, a Class 2A high school. Eden Williams is a 5-3 sophomore from Amarillo who played volleyball, basketball and pole vaulted in high school. The newcomers, who joined the team with the blessing of OU volleyball coach Santiago Restrepo, will be most valuable in practice, allowing coach Sherri Coale to run some drills at the very least.
Saturday's opponent should have the Sooners' full attention. Northridge upset No. 12 UCLA 77-72 in its last game Dec. 20. That's the same Bruins team that came to Norman and defeated OU six weeks ago. Ashlee Guay scored a career-high 28 points and Marta Masoni added 18 points on six 3-pointers in Northridge's win at Pauley Pavilion. Guay led the Big West Conference in assists and steals last year as a freshman. Masoni is a freshman from Italy. The two Matadors both average 15 points per game.
