Monday: The Party!
The fourth annual The Party! New Year's Ball Drop is again in the Blue Dome District, on Second Street between Elgin and Greenwood avenues. From 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., the free outdoor street party will feature a lighted ball drop and fireworks show, as well as live entertainment.
A VIP party, which will include food, drinks, entertainment and dancing, will be located in the Blue Dome area and will be available for $75 a person. Tickets are available at tulsaworld.com/THEparty

Monday: NYE at the Brady
A full bar, ball drop and champagne toast at midnight are part of the New Year's Eve Party at the Brady Theater, 105 W. Brady St.

The Crystal Ball will be at the IDL Ballroom, Enso Bar and Electric Circus, at 230 E. First St.
From 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., local DJs will provide the entertainment at this New Year's Eve masquerade party. Tickets are $35 per person, $60 per couple. VIP packages are $100 per person and include hors d'oeuvres, special seating and early or expedited entry; 21 and older.

Monday: Casino parties
You can also ring in the new year at area casinos, which will feature giveaways, countdowns and music at their parties.
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, 777 W. Cherokee St. in Catoosa, will start its party at noon for those who don't want to be out late.
Other casinos hosting parties will be River Spirit Tulsa, 8330 Riverside Parkway, and Osage Casino-Tulsa, 951 W. 36th St. North.
Tuesday: OSU football
The Oklahoma State football team closes out its season when it faces Purdue in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. The game will kick off at 11 a.m. at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and be televised by ESPNU. Wednesday: TU basketball
The Tulsa men's basketball team closes out its nonconference schedule when it plays Buffalo at 7:05 p.m. at the Reynolds Center. The Hurricane, 7-6 on the season, open Conference USA play Sunday at SMU. Tickets range from $10 to $39 and are available by going to tulsaworld.com/tusports

It's the last week to enjoy Winterfest. The attraction will be outside the BOK Center through Sunday. Skate on the 9,000-square-foot ice rink, take a carriage ride or warm yourself up in the nearby warming tent. The 44-foot Christmas tree is also still up, and concessions are available.

Recycling efforts will extend through Sunday as part of the "Unboxing Christmas 12 Days Campaign."
People can drop off items at the American Waste Control/Tulsa Recycle and Transfer's Mr. Murph center, 1150 N. Peoria Ave., or at more than 60 Mr. Murph locations across northeastern Oklahoma from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Sunday. Participants can also drop off items at Harley Hollan Cos., 5677 S. 107th East Ave., from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday-Friday, 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Recyclable items include electrical wires, Styrofoam, cardboard, Christmas trees and lights, paper, cardboard, plastics, aluminum and glass.

Friday: OU football
The Oklahoma football team closes out its season when it faces Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and be televised by KOKI-5/23. Friday: Brady Arts Walk
Start the year off with some art during the Brady Art District's monthly "First Friday Art Walk."
Enjoy the work of local artists at the various galleries, studios and businesses in the district.
This month, the newly opened Hardesty Arts Center, 101 E. Archer St., will be participating in the walk, which is from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. The center will have "Concept/OK: Art in Oklahoma" on display, an exhibit that gives a sense of the great diversity of art being created today in and around the state.

Friday: 'Everyday People'
The Zarrow Center for Arts and Education, 124 E. Brady St., will host an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday for "Everyday People," an exhibit of the 366 photographic portraits - one taken each day in 2012 - by Tulsa World photographer John Clanton.
The exhibit offers a glimpse of life in Tulsa in the year 2012, revealing the complexity and unity of the many types of people who call Tulsa and Oklahoma home.

Saturday, Sunday: Monster Jam
Monster Jam, the motorsport show that features racing and freestyle competitions between monster trucks, returns to Tulsa this weekend.
Monster Jam drivers will compete at shows at the BOK Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

A pit party will be held at the BOK Center at 5 p.m. Saturday, and showgoers can purchase tickets at the venue for $5 for kids and $10 for adults.

The Metcalf Gun Show will be in Tulsa this weekend.
Presented by Warren Metcalf Productions Inc., the show will be held at Expo Square's Exchange Center, 4145 E. 21st St., and will feature hundreds of tables of guns, ammunition and reloading equipment.

A group of Oklahoma musicians, led by producer Steven Schrag, will use their talents to pay tribute to jazz legend Dave Brubeck, who died last month. The performance is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, 111 E. First St.

Chess workshop
Ever thought of taking up chess? If so, consider dropping in at Central Library, 400 Civic Center, anytime between 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5. Michael Sullivan, a 20-year veteran chess teacher, will give short lessons and tips, and attendees will then get the opportunity to play. The workshops will be offered weekly through Feb. 9. Winterfest
This is the last chance to enjoy Winterfest, outside the BOK Center at 200 S. Denver Ave. The ice rink is open from noon to 10 p.m. Thursday, noon to 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday.
Carriage rides are offered from 6 to 9 p.m. each of those nights. Admission is $5-$10. Carriage rides are $10 per adult and $5 for children 12 and younger.

Chili Bowl
The 27th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals will be at Expo Square on Tuesday, Jan. 8, through Jan. 12.
Qualifying races begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 8-11, with the grandstands opening at 3 p.m. The championship event will begin at noon Jan. 12.
This year's events includes 252 competitors. The entries are from 32 states, as well as Australia, Canada, Finland and New Zealand.
