LOCUST GROVE – A Mayes County man died and two people were hospitalized after a fiery pickup crash Sunday.

Mark A. Cozad, 24, of Locust Grove was pronounced dead at the scene on Mayes County Road 590 west of County Road 442, which is two miles south and one mile east of Locust Grove, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol news release.

Cozad was driving a 1994 Ford F150 pickup east when the truck failed to negotiate a curve, struck a tree and caught fire, troopers said. It is unknown whether Cozad was wearing a seatbelt.

Passengers David A. Jackson, 25, and Elizabeth A. Hoskins, 20, both of Locust Grove, were transported to St. Francis Hospital. They were not wearing seatbelts, according to the report.

The cause of wreck is listed as unsafe speed on a curve.
